ACTION CONVERSATIONS (regional premiere)
Action Conversations is directed by Victoria Marks and co-created with an ensemble of four veterans recovering from PTSD and three artists. The work considers how veterans re-enter civilian life after traumatic combat experiences while asking the rest of us what we have to do with it.
Action Conversations grew out of workshops led by Victoria Marks that sought to create a dialogue between artists and veterans. Begun in October 2007 at UCLA, the workshops led to the construction of a performance that was presented by Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA, February 2008.
OUTSIDE IN (1994)
14 minutes, BBC/Arts Council England
"Outside In shows just what can be done in the complicated and too often disastrous business of bringing dance and television together. It is funny, heartening, technically inventive and hugely entertaining... the sort of programme which may well appeal to people who normally take no interest in dance" –
The Financial Times
"Completely unmissable – a stunner.” – The Independent
MEN (1997)
20 minutes, BBC/Arts Council England
"The most impressive and uplifting twenty minutes of television to come along in years. Sit back, think of your grandfather and relish the sheer joy of life these men hand us like a gift. Director Margaret Williams and choreographer Victoria Marks stretch the boundaries of ‘dance’ to the limit, their work spilling over with wit and wisdom." –
Time Out London
"An extraordinary tribute to the wisdom and folly of old age… extremely moving." –
The Times of London
