“Zorongo immerses the audience in flamenco culture providing a program of technical excellence and vivid feeling.”

This September, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre embarked on the first leg of a two-part journey reaching beyond the walls of the Southern Theater and into the splendor of autumn in Minnehaha Falls Park. Inspired by the Spanish poet García Lorca, the site-specific work told the tragic story of Yerma, a neglected and barren woman. Captured on film by video artist Lynn Lukkas, the audience participated in a pilgrimage with the dancers at the Falls. Lukkas’ film will feature prominently in the stunning conclusion on the Southern stage, along with an original score by Spanish composer Arcadio Marin, guest artists Adriana Maresma Fous and Raul Salcedo, and Zorongo’s passionate dancers. Be part of this one-of-a-kind adventure uniting artists and audience, nurturing their environment through dance, music and mystery. |
