Since its first performance in 1983, Zenon Dance Company has grown to be one of the nation's premiere repertory dance companies. Recently voted “Best Dance Performance” by City Pages, Zenon continues its momentum with two modern dance premieres and one jazz premiere during its 26th Fall Season. Repertory favorites round out an evening from the company “still setting the bar for dance in the Twin Cities” (MinnPost.com).
World Premieres
Twin Cities Choreographer WYNN FRICKE’S new modern quartet features original music composed and performed live by Peter O’Gorman. The work showcases two men and two women performing intricate partnering and sculptural movement in an otherworldly landscape. The work is both powerful and delicate.
Twin Cities Choreographer CYNTHIA GUTIERREZ-GARNER’S new jazz ensemble work features rhythmic, dynamic movement set to a Latin jazz score.
Twin Cities Premiere
New York Choreographer ANDREA MILLER’S I Can See Myself in Your Pupil set to music by Balkan Beat Box is a lively, hip, and humorous modern work that pushes the dancers to their physical limits. The ensemble piece features a female trio and a male/female duet exploring the explosive power and contained tension in relationships.
