For fans still aching from Fringe-withdrawal, and those brave enough to get hooked, the Southern Theater presents the remounts of two hit shows from the 2008 Minnesota Fringe Festival season. One full of myth and drama, and the other a quirky comedy, these two works provide a taste of the best physical theater work in the Twin Cities.
The Nosdrahcir Sisters
A whimsical comedy about two imaginative sisters
Featuring Sara Richardson and Kimberly Richardson
“The Nosdrahcir Sisters is a big-hearted show, not tearjerker; and yet it offers plenty of sobering observations—so clear-eyed and familiar— that will leave you a little wistful all the same.” –

From two of the Twin Cities’ funniest ingénues, Lecoq-trained Sara Richardson and Sage Award-winning Kimberly Richardson, comes
The Nosdrahcir Sisters – a sold out hit of the Minnesota Fringe Festival and their first independent collaboration. Following Dusty and Hildegard Nosdrahcir in both their real and imaginative lives, a tangential stream of whimsical scenes brings to life worlds where teacups triumph, aliens say beep and mermaids shop in the produce aisle. Come for the lonely melon balladeer, stay for the dances from 1980s aerobics videos! A mishmash of clown, movement and object theater, where everything is funny, even the sad.
The Gypsy and the General
A physical adventure tale with live music and dance
Directed by Katie Melby
Music and lyrics by Andrew Lynch
Featuring the talents of Jason Bohon, Andrew Lynch, Katie Melby, Tamara Ober and Eric Sharp
“…beautifully nimble gem of physical theater.” – Star Tribune
In a small seaside city-state, the General is forced to flee for her life after an attack from “the Enemy,” taking with her only a small entourage of loyal subjects. They plan to sail to the safety of a friendly harbor, but are blown off course by a severe storm and wash up on a distant unknown shore. Lost in this new world, the small band must navigate disorienting territories as the General struggles to maintain her mission despite all odds. A physically daring, ensemble-created show, the wandering Gypsy narrates their journey, spinning their fortunes through electrifying music.
