Southern Theater is pleased to announce the 2008 round of the McKnight
Artist Fellowships for Choreographers and Dancers. This program
is made possible by the generous support of The McKnight Foundation.
The McKnight Foundation also funds artist fellowship programs in
ceramic arts, literature, music composition, music performance,
photography, playwriting and theater arts, screenwriting and filmmaking,
and visual arts, administered respectively by the Northern Clay
Center, Southern Theater, The Loft, American Composers Forum, MacPhail
Center for the Arts, Minnesota Center for Photography, Playwrights'
Center, Independent Feature Project/North, and Minneapolis College
of Art and Design.
The
McKnight Artist Fellowships for Dancers and Choreographers annually
awards three $25,000 fellowships to dancers and three $25,000 fellowships
to choreographers who reside in Minnesota. Fellowships provide recognition
and financial support for mid-career choreographers and dancers.
The program is designed to award artists whose work is of exceptional
artist merit, who have created a substantial body of work over a
period of time, and are at a career stage that is beyond emerging.
