2007 McKnight Artists Fellows Gallery
Congratulations
to the 2007 McKnight Artists Fellows in Dance and Choreography.
Each
year three dancers and three choreographers are selected to receive
prestigious McKnight Artists Fellowships. These awards are designed
to recognize mid-career Minnesota dance artists who have achieved
sustained excellence in their work. Chosen by a knowledgeable panel
of dance artists and arts professionals, these six artists are recognized
as exceptional dance artists, and in a community rich with choreographic
and performing talent, this is no small compliment. Each fellowship
recipient receives a $25,000 cash award and other benefits to help
them move forward in their work.
The
McKnight Artists Fellowships for Choreographers and Dancers are
funded by The McKnight Foundation and administered by the Southern
Theater.
We at
the Southern Theater would like to extend our thanks to The McKnight
Foundation for their generous support of the dance community in
Minnesota through the Fellowship program. We are honored to be part
of the thriving arts community in Minnesota, nurtured in large part
through the generosity of the McKnight Fellowships awarded in 12
artistic disciplines.
Special
thanks to those who have served on McKnight Fellowship selection
panels over the years. Their thoughtful and conscientious work in
the face of the difficult task of choosing a handful of deserving
artists in a community of many deserving artists is truly appreciated.
| Look for "SOLO," at the Southern Theater July 11-13, 2008 featuring the 2006 and 2007 McKnight Dancer Fellows. As part of the fellowship award, each McKnight dance fellow receives the means to commission a new solo work, from a choreographer of his/her choice. SOLO will feature the premieres of these six new works created expressly for our dance fellows. |
