Somna invites audiences into the mysterious landscape of sleep — the place where the body rests but the mind continues to wander. Through contemporary dance, this evening-length work explores the cycles of sleep, the surreal logic of dreams, and the emotional worlds that unfold when we surrender to rest. Movement shifts between the quiet stillness of drifting off, the vivid imagery of dreaming, and the restless transitions that carry us through the night. Performed by the 8:20 Dance Company alongside a dynamic Apprentice Company of nine emerging artists, Somna weaves together layered choreography, atmospheric design, and intimate storytelling to illuminate what happens in the spaces between waking and dreaming. At once haunting, beautiful, and deeply human, Somna invites audiences to reflect on the subconscious rhythms that shape our nights — and the dreams that linger when morning arrives.
