Experience the myth, movement, and sacred lineage of Cambodia through Following The Serpent’s Veil: Preah Thong Neang Neak, a visually rich evening of Cambodian classical dance inspired by one of the kingdom’s most enduring origin stories. This sacred Khmer narrative tells of the union between a foreign prince and a naga princess, a marriage believed to form the spiritual foundation of Cambodia itself.
Rooted in ancient animist belief systems, the naga, the sacred serpent, symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth, water and land, ancestry and life itself. Cambodian classical dance carries this serpent lineage through fluid, curved gestures and devotional movement, embodying centuries of ritual, memory, and cosmological belief. More than myth, this story speaks to diaspora, convergence, and continuity, reminding us that culture endures through movement, memory, and sacred connection.
